Goal (1): To research and identify 10 facts that inform the public about a particular issue related to your topic.
Goal (2): Each fact must be documented accurately and properly cited using MLA format.
Goal (3): All resources must be evaluated based on the 5W’s of Web Evaluation (see resources below) and are from credible, nonprofit or informational sources.
Examples on topic of teen smoking:
Example 1
"Teen smokers have smaller lungs and weaker hearts than teens who don’t smoke" (Martin).
Example 1 meets Goals one and two, but does not meet Goal three because it is not a credible source as can be seen by the advertisements and the lack of citations for all facts.
Example 2
"Smoking cigarettes is the most important preventable cause of death in the United States and is responsible for over 430,000 deaths each year or 19.5% of all deaths" (Teen Smoking...).
