Students just completed a Movie Maker Workshop in which they reviewed the steps of using Movie Maker to create a Public Service Announcement. Students also had time to work on their projects and get technical assistance, as necessary. I worked today to help students download and convert video files. Many students have already started editing their video and pictures, some groups have even finished their PSAs. Over the next two weeks, students are encouraged to come to me for technical support. Public Service Announcement (PSA) is designed to educate viewers about issues that are difficult to deal with. For example: breast cancer, sexually transmitted diseases, alcoholism or drug abuse. The primary goal of a PSA is to ask viewers to "Take Positive Action."
WHAT MAKES A GOOD PSA?
You have a GOAL of what you want to accomplish.
You know your AUDIENCE.
Your message incites EMOTION in your viewers.
You have only ONE CORE MESSAGE.
Your message describes an ACTION TO BE TAKEN.
You have selected an appropriate FORMAT.
